In Year 4 our class teacher is Miss Breckell. Our teaching assistant is Miss Briggs. There are 20 lively and enthusiastic children in our class and we all love to learn new skills.
At play time, we can either bring in our own healthy snack or you may choose to pay 20p per day to choose a snack from our snack trolley.
Water bottles can also be brought into class in a plastic bottle that is clearly labelled with a name and will be freely accessible throughout the day.
We have P.E on a Monday and Thursday every week. School P.E kit should be kept in school at all times. The children will being them home at the end of each term to be washed.
Children will bring home a small list of spellings home each week. They will need to be practiced at home ready for testing on a Friday.
We will also bring home times table homework weekly. This year will need to know all of our times tables so the more practice the better!
Children will bring home their school reading books every night. The books will then be checked daily to ensure reading is taking place.
This term our topic is 'Sparks Might Fly'.
In English we will be writing explanation texts and fantasy stories. We will carry out lots of different writing activities around these themes.
We will also be looking at a wide range of subjects, including Science, Music and DT. We will be looking at the importance of electricity and how it functions more that what we thing. We will also be using our electrical skills to make some games using what we have learned in Science.
First Day of Year 4!
Welcome to Year 4!
Today we got out groove on for our first dance lesson. We really enjoyed it and are looking forward to the next one.
This year we have introduced the 'Peace Place' in our classroom. Here we will be looking into mindfullness and instilling this in out lives.
Today the children took part in their first guided meditation and enjoyed using the 'Calm Jars' to use the breathing techniques we have learned.
Today, Year 4 have been investigating what makes a circuit complete. They really enjoyed constructing the circuits and can't wait for the next lesson.
This year we are learning the skill of playing Ukulele. We are having fun learning the basics of the instrument
Dance, Dance, Dance!
We are still enjoying taking part in our new PE sessions.
This term, in Computing, we are learning how to program a game. Today we have learned how to programme characters to move ready to start game coding next week.
We have been looking at what commitments we hold, in school and outside of school. We reflected on our new values - Enjoy, Embrace, Evolve - looking how we are committed to working for our school community. We used the school behaviour framework to see our expected behaviours ans negative behaviour and acted these out in a short role play.
