This week, we’ve been diving into the beautifully illustrated, wordless story Bee and Me. Without any text to guide us, we used our inference skills to explore the narrative through the pictures. We imagined what the characters might be saying and thinking, and even created hashtags to express our ideas. We also explored the vital role bees play in our world, especially in the pollination process. To bring this concept to life, we used a fun and tasty activity involving Wotsits! The Wotsits represented flowers, our fingers were the bees, as we picked up the crisps, the cheesy crumbs stuck to our fingers — just like pollen! When we touched another “flower,” the crumbs transferred — showing how bees help plants grow by spreading pollen. it was an unforgettable way to understand the magic of pollination and the importance of protecting our buzzing friends.
