A busy week in Year 2. We have been working hard on our handwriting to form our letters correctly. In Maths we have been learning about Place Value and how to partition numbers into tens and ones.  

Heart Smart - We had a little visit from Poppy today during our Heart Smart session.  As a class we discussed loving ourselves and showing love to others, part of being Heart Smart!

Year 3 have been reading The Lancashire Giant, in groups we acted out the story and performed to the class.

PE - Year 3 enjoyed their first PE lesson of the new school year, Athletics this half term. They looked exceptionally smart in the new school PE kit.

Today Year 3 explored ordnance survey maps, along with identifying symbols on a map.
 

Year 3 loved learning about the moon landing which took place 50 years ago.  We read a text about the event and answered questions about it and then had a go at writing a diary entry as if we were Neil Armstrong.

Year 4 had a great day learning about key parts in our history. We #enjoyed learning about the 3 astronauts and looking at what they did in space. 

Today some of our Year 4 children climbed aboard Mellor's lunch bus. We had a lovely dinner, ice cream and had a sing songs to some tunes. 

Today, Year 4 experimented with wires, cells and bulbs to create a simple circuit. We looked at what it needs to function and found that the cell plays a very important part. We then tested different circuits to see if they were complete or incomplete. 

What a first week back, settling into our new classroom. We have taken part in classroom hunts, thought about our wishes for Year 4 and creating some amazing artwork to display around our room. Super excited for the rest of the year!

Y6 really enjoyed their history learning when studying the Apollo 11 moon landing! We sequenced the key events in the program and asked political and cultural questions about the space race.
